Yesterday and Monday I volunteered at the Chicago Lighthouse for people who are blind or visually impaired.  They were celebrating their involvement in the National Public Health Awareness Week.  The first day, I escorted attendees to an open seat in the cafeteria.  They were so grateful for the help.  I felt really good behind that!  Tuesday, I walked a mile with the people who pledged to do a mile's walk.  Some folks did a half a mile (I think) and others signed up to do a walk around the Lighthouse.  All of the staff thanked me for volunteering and said they appreciated me.  I felt very welcomed and can't wait to help out in the future!    Posted 4.7.10

Greetings in this year of 2010!  I am so excited to have made it over.  I brought in the new year at church!  This month I am preparing for the Grammy Awards!  I got to get a dress!  I'll be volunteering at Grammy Career Day too and the MusiCares event (they're honoring Neal Young)!  I spoke to a singer/songwriter friend of mine, Patricia Bahia that I know from NARIP.  She and I may have lunch together while out there!  Posted 1.20.2010

Yesterday was my Mom's birthday!  I treated her to two movies at AMC "Precious" and   " The Blind Side".  We had a wonderful time!  Too bad she didn't want to be treated to a cocktail in her new Lolita Birthday Girl glass I bought from the Hallmark Store (the day of)!  Talk about last minute right?  Hey...it's the thought that counts!  Besides, I think I wanted the drink more than she did! I've been enjoying myself at the Cosmopolitan Chamber of Commerce in Chicago, IL.  I'm really looking forward to meeting some powerful people at their Gala on the 16th!  Oh my gosh!  What am I going to wear?  Also, I've been consulting small business owners on website building.  That's going pretty well!  I have an information session with Mollie from Crimson Rd. tomorrow!  Can't wait to nail that interview! So, I just came back from volunteering at the N.E.W. Foundation's Fun Run/Walk for elementary and middle school kids.  It was wonderful!  I bought $10 worth of raffle tickets and won two prizes.  I have a Ralph Lauren Bag and a $10.00 Bath & Body Works Gift Certificate-I put 2 tickets in that one! :) I also won a frame from Fast Frames and a $60 gift certificate.  Wow!  New Subject-The Women's Entrepreneurial Conference on the 16th was great!  I met a gentleman named Derek!  He's so wonderful.  More to come on that soon.  I met Chef La La from East L.A. and the lady that owns the Tootise Roll company.  Geez...I'm on a roll! Relax.  Alright!  It's been ten days since my last update.  Are you wondering where I've been?  Um...well...I have been working out, talking on the phone, pushing overtime at my day job, and every other place except cyberspace!  :)  I appreciate your concern.  Thank you.  Right now, I'm working on my NARAS or The Recording Academy application.  This is the organization responsible for the Grammy Awards Show.  Stay tuned. -N Posted 8.19.09

I'm proud to publish an update so soon!  Yesterday, Saturday, I hosted my brother's Baby Shower.  My niece Faith Amari, turned two months.  She was born on June 8, 2009.  Look's like this is the year of the Ox!
We had a wonderful time! Prizes were given away, there was garden salad, potatoe salad, fruit salad and more!  My favorite dishes of the afternoon were rib tips, spaghetti (not the one with the shrimp in it), and the hot wings.  We ate chocolate cake that said "welcome to the world Faith Amari".  There were three choices of ice cream desserts:  butter pecan (my Mom's favorite), vanilla (anything vanilla is my fav.  I don't really care for chocolate), and raspberry sherbert.  I ate both ice creams and cake.  I forgot that I may be lactose intolerant.  I should have had the dang on sherbert.  Oh well!  I kinda paid the price!
So, in conclusion, Mommie cooked all of the barbeque (including the tender chicken breasts) and Mona (our family friend of eight years & my hair stylist) made the spaghetti dishes and wonderful BBQ sauce.  Thank God for them cause Ms. Nominee does not cook-well not yet,at least.-N Posted 8.9.09
